A Day in Amsterdam

Last week I had a free day of work and since it was a while ago I visited Amsterdam we decided to spend the day over there. From my hometown to Amsterdam is only 45 minutes by train, so close by! During the day I took some pictures, but sometimes I forgot to take out my camera, but here is an impression of a lovely day!

We were walking around and stumbled upon a book market at a small square behind Spui.
I love old books and magazines!

There are many houses in Amsterdam that are somewhat askew, like this very small house in De 9 Straatjes.

Every time we go to Amsterdam we must eat at Pancakes! Amsterdam. The place is quite small and mostly there is a queue outside but it is certainly worth the waiting! The 'poffertjes', which are the smaller little pancakes, are heavenly! So was the rest! We ordered a cheese, spinach and mushroom one and a apple, cinnamon and nut mix pancake.

After finishing everything (yes, really, our plates were literally empty) we decided to do something cultural. The Rijksmuseum has re-opened after 10 years of renovation and is certainly worth a visit.

Of course we had to see (and with us many other visitors) the masterpiece ' Nachtwacht' of Rembrandt van Rijn. It was extremely crowded at the painting and it was a challenge to take a picture.

Look at this amazing library! I feel like I am in a Harry Potter movie!

Shoes from the 15th century

A YSL dress inspired by Dutch painter Piet Mondriaan. It is designed in the 1950s.

After walking around for a few hours we decided it was time for dinner. We heard about a place at Waterlooplein; 'Woo Bros' and decided to give it a try. Oh men, why did we not visit this place earlier! They have amazing food and too much choice. We went for the shoft shell crab sushi roll (which is definitely my favourite)

Salmon sashimi with avocado and ginger-soy dressing

Tuna tataki and a few other dishes but we finished those before I could take a picture. After dinner we went back home. Of course we did some shopping as well but I will show you that in another post!

Alexander Wang for H&M

It is confirmed! Alexander Wang will be the guest designer for H&M this year! The designer, who is also the creative director of Balenciaga, will create a men and women collection as well as accessories. I am very curious to the accessories while I love the bags of Alexander Wang! Unfortunately we have to wait for some time; the collection will be unveiled on November 6, 2014. Are you looking forward to this collaboration?

What's in my bag

Happy Monday! For today I thought it would be nice to do a What's In My Bag. I always enjoy to read and watch this at other bloggers and You-tubers.

Please meet my Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Smack Natasha Bag. It has an embossed lip pattern and the leather is so soft and light. I got it for my birthday last year and it is so beautiful!

At the moment I am reading the book; "Bij Starbucks heet ik Amy" (translated in English: At Starbucks my name is Amy). This is about a Dutch/Belgian journalist who moved to New York City and is sharing her experiences. Next to his, I have my wallet (also Marc by Marc Jacobs) and my sunglasses. For beauty products I have my small pouch with lovely owls, a miniature of Dior (smelling amazing!), my Babylips from Maybelline and a YSL lipstick. I always, always have an extra hair elastic and pin in my bag and a small mirror. This one is from Victoria's Secret. Lastly, In the small etui on the right is my public transportation card. Oh and my iPod, but I could not find my headphones....

Spring Clutches: Kotur

I received a few wedding invitations of friends who will wed this spring. So it is time to shop for dresses, heels and clutches! (I know, so aweful). Since I am obsessed with bags, I tell myself I absolutely need a new clutch to attend these weddings and forget to start looking for dresses first. A clutch is part of the outfit and If I could choose I would go for a clutch from Kotur. This brand has amazing clutches, especially from the spring 2014 collection. The first one has a gorgeous blue colour, which is also available in a more pink / purple shade. The second one has a beautiful flower pattern and will fit perfectly with a mint green dress. The clutch in the shape of a bird cage is crazy, funny crazy! I don't know if I would go for that one, but I had to show you guys! Which one is your favourite? By the way, it is very nice to read about the brand Kotur and the women behind these gorgeous bags. You can read it here.

Documentary Dior et Moi

Almost every fashion house has a documentary about their couture collections. Dior could not leave behind and their first documentary will be premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival on 17 April 2014.

The documentary shows how creative director Raf Simons is designing his debut collection for the French fashion house. With this documentary you get a peek behind the scenes and see the whole process from designing on paper, to the fashion show on the catwalk. I can't wait to see this documentary! I enjoy watching these kind of documentaries while it shows the mysterious world behind the gorgeous clothes hanging in the shops. I hope the documentary will be available on YouTube in a while, if so, I will definitely post it on my blog!

Words to live by

Today it's time for some words to live by. I think these quotes are very inspirational and also very true. It is good to take minute and read the quotes carefully and get inspired! If you are creative and like to DIY, you can print them out, frame them and decorate your interior! Have a great weekend!

Beauty Review: Chanel, Chance Eau Fraiche

After smelling and spraying many perfumes, I decided to treat myself on a new perfume; Chance from Chanel. I choose for Eau Fraiche while I think this one smells the best compared to the other two of Chance. It is not too sweet compared to Eau Tendre, which I thought was a bit too scented for me. This one smells light and fresh due to the citrus and hyacinth and is combined with floral scents. I think this perfume is perfect for spring and I can definitely recommend this one to you guys! Every time I wear it, I feel all happy and ready for summer!

Living in Greenwich Village

As you probably know I loveeee to peek into someone's home to see how it is decorated, especially the houses in New York City.

The Daily Mail reported that the house of ex-couple Kate Moss and Johnny Depp is for rent. The house is situated in Greenwich Village and has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a floating bathtub. The house is dated back to the 1800s, which I think is great, I love historic details, and is called a Carriage House. The apartment rent is $19,000 per month, such a bargain (ahem).

I love the outdoor garden space which is really lovely in the middle of the city. The big windows and the balcony are also gorgeous. I definitely can see myself living there (in my dreams...).

On the wishlist: Henri Bendel

Lately I am obsessed with cobalt blue bags and I think I found the perfect one. Please meet the Debutante Satchel from Henri Bendel. This bag is perfect for every day use. The best thing about this bag is (besides of the colour) the zipper, I love how they designed it. This beautiful bag would be a perfect accessory when you wear a grey and white outfit and is just perfect for spring. You must definitely check out the website of Henri Bendel for more great bags!
